Passing MRCS Part A in May and completed two further technical improvement audits. First looking at installing bluetooth tracking devices on essential ENT equipment to prevent loss in the hospital and secondly researching if ChatGPT can write discharge letters for hypothetical elective tonsillectomy patients. Presented the findings at the Health and Care Analytics (HACA) conference 2023.

Core Surgical Trainee in a busy District General Hospital in Kent. Working wards, theatres and on-calls on a rolling basis. Attending to acutely unwell new admissions, leading ward rounds and assisting in theatres with open, laparoscopic and robotic surgery. Caring for over 100 patients overnight with only one other doctor. Key skills of prioritisation of jobs, attention to detail and identifying problems early to prevent medical deterioration. Lead multiple quality improvement projects including winning the 3rd prize at the annual audit award competition.

Part of an exceptionally talented and passionate team expanding school based deworming programmes internationally affecting millions of children. Overseeing a portfolio of 7 multi-million dollar grants to national governments and implementing partners. An honour to work on the Carter Center's Guinea Worm Eradication Program in South Sudan. Working in remote communities to establish, identify, treat and prevent cases of Dracunculus medinensis. Working with inspirational colleagues and communities to rid humanity of this parasitic disease. Day to day activities involved providing training and oversight to volunteers and staff in the field. Oversee effective health promotion activities in villages to maintain a robust surveillance network. Establish good communication channels able to identiify cases and convey messages without access to mobile or internet services. Build friendly and constructive relationships with local leaders, including officials from the State and National Ministries of Health, to lend support to the program. In charge of all financial and human resources decisions on the local compound. Maintain a strict ledger of food, fuel and other supplies and service off road vehicles and motorbikes. Write regular progress reports and budgets, and present findings at regional and national meetings. I was promoted from Technical Advisor to a Regional Coordinator responsible for a network of compounds in all endemic areas West of the Nile. Resilience, independent problem solving and leadership were all skills I honed during this experience.

Working as a liaison officer for a locally run water and sanitation NGO in Uganda with 5 regional offices funded by UK and US donors. Collaborating with colleagues and other NGOs to provide clean water systems and sanitation training to rural and peri-urban communities in Uganda. Incentivising community ownership and maintenance and ensuring equality of access. Day to day work involved organising the days office activities, writing reports, communicating with donors, mapping water sources in new areas and carefully budgeting. Organised an annual water pump mechanics conference attended by over 70 people including international trainers to enhance local skills in maintaining water sources. Responsible for servicing a fleet of land rovers and trucks and secured major new courses of investment for the NGO.
