As a Manager of a large operation where we process hundreds of thousands of packages a week, every day I need to inspire my team to believe this concept. It's not enough to succeed once, but to make success the norm of our every day lives. We do this through the way interact with our coworkers, the way we prepare for our days, the way we pursue education and training, the way we react to adversity. The more we know, the more we prepare, the more united we are as a team, the more success become a part of us and takes us to new levels of greatness.I try to convey this to everyone that I work with, as a manager, as a coach, as a member of a family, and a member of the community. I have shown this as a coach when I led a team with zero prior experience in volleyball to a winning season in their first season playing. As a Sort Manager when I took a station that was not running productive before I arrived, to consistently running over 110% of goal from January until now. These things are not one time flukes but consistent, daily proof that it is possible to make excellence a habit, and by doing so, new levels of greatness appear in front of us! This is what I believe in and who I am!

    • In collaboration with my team of operations managers, we developed a culture of success by meeting or exceeding our cost saving goals of employee productivity.     • Implemented people-first culture with the SALL Station. When I arrived at the SALL station I was acting sort manager through a difficult time. We were short staffed and dealing with two failing entities. By implementing a people first culture I was able to raise our staffing from the low fifties to the high seventies in the matter of a month.• Empowered the operations managers. Before my arrival at SALL the operations managers were all acting as package handlers in load or unload positions. I put an end to it and empowered them to be the leaders of their specific work areas. Also, I focused on operation manager training and development and put focus on their future with the company. • Collaborated with my Sort Manager and Senior Manager to implement operational changes to improve the processing of Large Packages in our building. There has been a surge in the number of Large Packages that need to be processed per day and thus a need for new operational processes regarding the large packages. We were bold in trying and implementing new ways of operating to try to find the most effective and efficient way to move these packages through the building.• Fostered and developed relationships with our P&D Department, our HR department, our counterparts in the SALT Hub, and the contractors that work with us as a team to get the packages delivered. • Spearheaded a referral program that compensated package handlers and operations managers for recruiting people to work for the company. This enhanced our staffing during the busiest time of the season and helped develop our team due to the familiarity between the members of our staff and the responsibility felt by the recruiters to take care of the new employees.

    • As a Fedex Operations manager I succeeded greatly in my charge of multiple aspects of the Hub Operations. These include directing the loading and unloading of trailers, managing the attendance and performance of the package handlers in my work area, conveying the importance of safe work practices, observing to make sure the package handlers are working safe, and correcting any unsafe acts as necessary, ensuring the timely unload and load of due freight, reaching the company, hub, sort and work area goals, and many other thing pertaining to the Hub operation.• Another aspect of my job as an Operations manager at Fedex Ground at the Salt Lake Hub was to oversee in completion of incoming and outgoing freight. It was my job as a Yard Management System manager to ensure that all the freight that was due was worked through our system. It was important to utilize my organizational skills to keep track of every trailer coming through the building, and interpersonal skills to be in contact with other parts of the operation to make sure the freight arrives and is unloaded and processed on time.• Perhaps my biggest success as an operations manager was my ability to build teams and prepare people for future promotions. I was constantly engaging my team and recruiting the high performers to apply for positions higher up in the company. There are many successful members of the management team today that were part of my teams while I was an operations manager.

    • For nearly three years, I have been a FedEx Ground Package Handler. I have worked in various parts of the operation, in the preload loading vans, and in loading bulk trucks. I have worked in the preload’s unload, doing scan and label, splitting, doing smalls, etc. I spent six months in the hub on unload and load side. I also ran scan and label for the IC belt and unloaded ICs. I spent almost two years in the Logan station working the preload. I am proud to say that through all of my FedEx experiences I have always succeeded at each station where I was posted. • As a FedEx Package Handler, I ensured the proper loading and tracking of every package that came through my area. During the Christmas season, the busiest time of the year for FedEx, I remained nearly 100% for my scanning on a daily basis. • I am a member of the Safety Committee for FedEx Ground in Logan, Utah. As a station, we had one of the longest running count of injury-free days on the job. When I left, we had reached 2,300 days without an injury on the job.• I was entrusted with the responsibility of training the new FedEx employees on multiple occasions. In the Logan and Salt Lake preload, before there was a trainer position, I trained many people in the importance of 100% scanning, safe practices, and good loads to help the drivers and customer
