I enjoy solving problems. Nothing is more satisfying than sitting down with a friend or client and going through an issue and helping them find a solution. That’s the best part of this industry – while the work type can be similar, each project is different – different issues/ objectives/ people/ solutions.My 30+ years of experience has included being a field level technician, project manager, national client manager, Vice President of Operations and now COO for Hillmann. This allows me to understand the nitty gritty of the project, but also the ability to step back and view the problem from 30,000 feet. What are we really trying to identify/ determine/ solve, and will the ultimate receiver be satisfied? Whether it is a weird odor issue in a newly constructed office space (turned out to be organic coffee), or redeveloping an industrial site with gasoline stations into LEED Silver office buildings (NOMA), helping our clients figure it out is what excites me. Mentoring younger staff allows me to pass along the knowledge I have acquired and is incredibly satisfying.When not working, I’m solving my wife’s issues (to her chagrin) while we are out on the beach, hiking, at a live music venue or just sipping some wine at the end of a long week. Life is good!
