Production Manager for 2 departments (Pre-Production and Surface) for a 3 shift, 24/5 optical lens manufacturing facility in Columbus, OH with direct responsibility for more than 140 employees. Responsible for all aspects of surface production and quality to include lens and frame inventory management. Expanded business from 1 shift operation to a full 3 shift operation, maximizing production capacity while optimizing cost. Implemented Lean principles and process improvements enabling more than 100% increase in surface capacity and driving more than 100% plant output in less than 3 years.

Production Supervisor responsible for all aspects of production and quality of a 50+ person’s team; managing training and development for on shift associates and process technicians. Prioritized production schedules based on product introduction, equipment efficiency, and capacity while providing guidance to employees according to established policies and procedures.Achieved a 20% process improvement across a multiple vendor digital prescription lens surfacing line using data analysis, process control plans and improved work instructions. Tested and integrated 11 new pieces of equipment to include five brand new systems in time for seasonal peak, improving production capacity by 29% subsequently setting a new facility shipping record for four consecutive weeks exceeding forecast expectations.Concurrent with my production responsibilities, I also served as the Facility Safety Coordinator for 3 years. Leadership of and direct operational accountability for the performance of the Compressed Work Week Module teams in Wet/ Dry Etch and Diffusion/ RTA/ Implant consisting of 30+ technicians as measured against fab safety, quality, output and cost goals. Increased utilization by 5% in Q4 2005 after taking over the DRIM (Diffusion/ RTA/ Implant) team in September of 2005 by targeting key areas of improvement that were identified using tools such as EARTH and Capability coupled with an aggressive performance management style, setting of clear expectations, and a strong floor presence. GLOM Leader: Partnering Process Engineering and Manufacturing to manage and coach four shift compressed work week teams toward achieving safety, quality, output, and training readiness and meeting the business needs per indicators. Through devoted leadership and direction; created a structured GLOM (Group Leader/ Operations Manager) environment that largely improved the overall scorecard in training plans and forecasts while further aligning process engineering’s roadmap with the needs of manufacturing.
