To protect national and economic security, the ongoing operations of government, and the ability of critical infrastructures to continue to function. The role will monitor incidents at a national level, identifies incidents that could affect critical infrastructures, warns critical stakeholders about computer security threats, responds to incidents, and helps Critical Information Infrastructure recover from incidents and helps to build organizational CERTs in the public and private sectors.

The position exists to facilitate ICTs development in the country which includes Designs, manage and implements ICT development projects; Provides advice to government on ICT sector growth, policy and related matters; Promotes ICT awareness in rural areas; Facilitates and promotes public-private partnerships (PPP) in ICT Projects; Manages, coordinates and conducts research on ICT development projects; Participates in decision-making on matters relating to ICT development in the country; Facilitate ICT Development through creation of an enabling environment, formulation of regulations with respect to the ICT/Telecommunications Sector; Liaising with the Legal and Economics staff within MACRA on issues or conflicts involving telecommunication operators or between operators and consumers within the ICT sector.; Facilitate management and development of Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) in the country; Facilitate development of Public Key Infrastructure and Malawi ccTLD regulations
