April 2014 - October 2015As the Senior Project Manager I was accountable for the successful delivery of a £261m Programme of Work to rekit a high hazard nuclear facility and lead a number of site change programme initiatives with a 100+ multi discipline team.The key challenges were:• Evolving safety and legislative requirements;• Complex and bespoke design requirements;• Difficulty of integrating new and legacy equipment;• Maintaining an operational high hazard nuclear facility. The scope included multiple rekit projects with an annualised funding budget of £20m per year. This covered manufacturing, recovery and storage, surveillance and research and development equipment. The projects were full lifecycle from requirements and concept definition, through design and implementation to project handover and closeout.January 2012 – March 2014 Accountable for the technical delivery of a +£600m new nuclear facility project, I had accountability for a budget of circa £190m. My remit covered the successful completion of the detailed engineering design and assurance safety cases with support through construction, manufacturing and commissioning to operational handover. Working extensively with the supply chain I had responsibility for negotiating and managing NEC 3 contracts through design and implementation. Earlier in my time on the project I successfully managed the completion of the Definition Design and Safety Case for the Nuclear Safety Related Structures, delivered one of the Pre Construction Safety Reports for the Civils build to the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) and obtained Agreement to Commence Construction.

June 2010 – December 2011As a member of the New Nuclear Build Business Leadership Team, I had overall programme management accountability for all AMEC Nuclear New Build projects in the UK (multi million £s) with EDF NNB GenCo (Nuclear New Build Generation Company). My remit included:Profit and Loss accountability for all AMEC NNB GenCo projects including engineering design, safety case support, environmental impact assessments and statements and all AMEC embedded personnel at sites including London, Barnwood, Hinkley Point C and Sizewell C;Primary point of contact and Key Account Manager (KAM) for the AMEC business with NNB GenCo;Maintaining and developing relationships with the clients leadership team and other business stakeholders;Ensuring my staff received appropriate training and development to ensure business needs and personal aspirations were managed;Accountability for business development, bid no bids, tender management and approval – delegated authority to commit the company to individual NNB GenCo contracts up to £2m.August 2008 – June 2010A key member of the Nuclear Services South Business Leadership Team, I had full accountability for the successful delivery of all high value multi-million £ design projects in the Southern Region. My role included:Profit and Loss accountability for a £19.5 million Nuclear Facility Building and Building Services Detailed Design Project;Management of a 80 strong design team including sub-contractors;Ensuring that financial and non-financial targets were met especially in respect of Health, Safety and Quality;Monthly accountability reviews with the AMEC Business Unit Director and Vice President;Business Development and Bid Management – as bid manager won over £13.5m high margin business.

June 2005 – July 2008As the Waterfront Support Manager & Head of Department, Submarine Support Management Group (SSMG) I had Finance Director delegated budget and risk mitigation accountability (for 1/3 of the £100m SSMG contract) in support of the Ministry of Defence (MoD) Director In-service Submarines and the Submarine Production Project Team. I was directly responsible for a department of 31, including 6 team leaders (my direct reports), located at MoD - Abbeywood, SSMG - Keynsham, HMNB (Clyde) and Devonport Royal Dockyard. My responsibilities included:Data & Configuration Management for all in-service nuclear submarines;Design Authority Requirements work package production and reporting for all nuclear submarines including decommissioned boats;Hull & Systems Surveillance Requirements reporting for all nuclear submarines including decommissioned boats;SSMG Waterfront Site Offices at Her Majesty’s Naval Base (HMNB) (Clyde) and Devonport Royal Dockyard;SSMG Astute Class Submarine Support including definition & delivery of the Initial Astute Support Solution;I was also a lead member of the bid team that developed and won the £150m Submarine Engineering Support Contract (SESC) in support of the UK nuclear submarine flotilla.March 2002 – June 2005 Project Manager - Heat Management Services Equipment (HMSE): A £15 million contract awarded to DML to upgrade the chilled water system onboard 4 Trafalgar Class Submarines. As Project Manager and Chief Engineer my responsibilities involved: •Design, development, manufacture, testing and supply of HMSE and total system integration with the existing chilled water and ships fresh water cooling arrangements including liaison with MoD, BAE Systems and Royal Navy at all levels;•Management of sub-contractors including York International - the Chilled Water Plant Original Equipment Manufacturer.

I left the Royal Navy (RN) in August 2000 in the rank of Lieutenant after I achieved a Good Pass in the MESM Systems Engineering & Management Course at HMS SULTAN. Prior to leaving I served in HMS VICTORIOUS on a Strategic Nuclear Deterrent Patrol qualifying as a Nuclear Submariner Officer, Main Machinery Space Supervisor and Ship Control Console Supervisor.Earlier in my time in the RN I completed Officer Training at Britannia Royal Naval College (BRNC), Dartmouth and in HMS BEAVER, graduating as a Sub Lieutenant. I served as a Young Officer in HMS OCEAN from build; highlights included sub-tropical trials and ‘hurricane disaster’ relief support in the Caribbean. On returning to the UK I sat the Young Officers Fleet Board achieving a 1st Class Pass and was promoted to Lieutenant 9 months early. Preceding this during a break in service I read Mechanical Engineering at the University of Glasgow. Prior to this I undertook Officer Cadet training at BRNC. This included active service in the Adriatic in HMS BRILLIANT during the Bosnian Crisis and I was subsequently presented with the NATO Former Yugoslavia Medal. On completion of my training at BRNC I graduated with the rank of Midshipman.
