During my time at McDonald’s I have progressed to experience and variety of departments, allowing me to gain experience in a variety of settings, whilst developing my problem solving skills. Part of the role that I find important is excellent customer service, which I deliver on a regular basis. In addition to this, I also aim to meet the required standards of cleanliness that the company has instigated, as well as checking and maintaining high food standards.
Sports Development Officer Volunteer
During this role I have assisted with upcoming strategies and plans, such as; the promotion of female sport and devising new tournaments for less skilled male and female players to play in.As well as promoted new and upcoming sports through events, social media and e-mail.Additionally I have been included in meetings and have noted down the minutes at meetings with National Governing Bodies and County Sports Partnership meetings.I have also had the opportunity to assist with developing new sport programmes and initiatives within the University, which have come through the development of the new sports facilities.In addition to helping develop new strategies and plans, I have helped improve upon past initiatives; such as recommending additional football tournaments for less skilled players, as well as assisting in seeking funding for such tournaments from organisations such as Sportivate and Active Essex.

Primarily my role consisted of planning and running football sessions for students at the University of Essex. I also took it upon myself to promote football sessions, to encourage more students to take up sport and physical activity. Additionally I liaised with other football coaches, and the sports development officer (Just Play Co-ordinator) at the University of Essex. Time management was also important in this role as the facilities where in high demand, and to prevent overlap and allow the students a full session, each session had to start and finish on time.
Volunteer Physiotherapist Assistant
In this volunteering role I learnt how to motivate and encourage people to improve and maintain healthier lifestyles. I also was able to experience applying my learnt knowledge to promote healthier lifestyles amongst patients. I also assisted with paperwork and liaised with internal and external colleagues, as well as assisted in the running physiotherapy classes. An achievement I gained from this experience, was that I was permitted to complete one to one discussions and give advice to patients, plus become a key member of the cardiac rehabilitation classes.
Delivery Driver
In this role I was required to deliver food and drink to customers. An important duty given to me was to be responsible for age restricted alcohol sales, to prevent minors and over intoxicated customers from purchasing alcoholic beverages. I was also required to provide excellent customer service to customers. In addition to customer service it was important for me to have good time management and organisational skills to manage during high demand time periods.
Delivery Driver/ Bartender
In this instance I took on dual roles, and was required once again to monitor alcohol consumption to customers. In this role as senior member of staff I was often be left to manage my colleagues and set tasks for them to complete throughout the shift, this required me to use my interpersonal, time management and organisational skills to allow us to complete the tasks without under-staffing areas.
Customer Service Assistant
In this role I was in charge of a department within the store and had to assist customers with any requests.
Bartender
My role consisted of monitoring alcohol consumption to customers, as well as provide excellent customer service and meet the tasks and projected goals set for us by management.
Carpenter
In this role I often was entrusted to work alone on site and complete second fixing carpentry tasks. In order to succeed in this role I often had to use my initiative and rely on my education. This role also required me to have excellent time management skills and communication skills, to meet the customers’ requirements and to take under advisement any changes or requests.
Trainee Supervisor/ Customer Service Manager
In this role I achieved a promotion to be one of the youngest ever supervisors at any Sainsbury’s store. For this role I had to often communicate with customers who could sometimes be difficult, so communication was important and being empathetic towards their requests was important. I also had to oversee a team of up to 14 people per shift so it was important to plan out shifts and breaks to adhere to people’s individual needs and strengths.

For this role I was required to process customers purchases, whilst provided good communication skills and teamwork to assist customers and colleagues.
