University Of Wolverhampton

The University of Wolverhampton runs a Formula Renault 2.0 open wheel, single seat race car in the professional championship Monoposto 2000. My role within the team, as a student, was to monitor the race car through the use of a variety of sensors. This data allows me to discuss driving techniques with the professional driver, suggest set up changes on the car and provide evidence to back up the changes.

Hydraulic systems design on CAD, including technical drawing, publications and 3D model work.

I completed a 12 month engineering placement where I worked within Compact Products design and development, Cab systems development and Backhoe marketing. This enabled me to gain further experience within an engineering business and the different roles required. Whilst on the placement I undertook a number of extra activities, which included promoting engineering to younger people and I was also involved in a Hydraulics business unit educational project.

I worked at Halfords as a Bicycle Mechanic and Sales Assistant. I assembled and set up new bicycles for customers and ensure that they are safe to ride. The range of bicycles I work on has given me a valuable insight into mechanical devices in mass production. I also have customer contact, acting as a member of the sales team helping the store achieve its targets. I have gained a lot of experience talking and dealing with customers and am now able to build relationships quickly to ensure a profitable sale and happy customer.

I gained work experience of how an automotive engineering company works. I was involved in working with various teams involved in production, design and development of electric vehicles. I also used circuit design software.
