well where too start I left school in 2001 and immediately started in my apprenticeship in the motor trade. I have worked in various independent garages where there was always empty promises of training improving the workplace. So once I knew the job was at a dead end I quickly moved on I have worked in dealerships where in some cases these were worse than independent garages the reluctance too spend money in the workshops where they earn the majority of there profits. I then decided I had had enough of working for poor management. I went self employed mobile mechanic not easy too do but had some fun times and relied on myself too gain customers and do the job too the best of my ability. I am currently working for Autotech which at present suits me as I'm still self employed which is great for a good work life balance which is essential as we're only human despite what workshop management think. so we all need need a break sometimes. Technicians these days get a hard time in workshops for low pay compared too electricians plumbers etc. As vehicles are changing at an ever increasing rate becoming more complex no job is simply 5 mins those days have gone. I have never agreed with the bonus scheme in dealerships it encourages bad working practices this is my experience from working in several garages across the South West.
