The exploration of professional relationships across disciplines fills me with enthusiasm, as it highlights the remarkable transferability of skills and knowledge. Consider, for instance, a single cell within the human body. It represents not only a biological entity but also a complex amalgamation of chemical, physical, and electrical phenomena. It has been my privilege to acquire technical expertise and utilize specialized tools that enable me to bridge knowledge gaps among researchers from diverse fields. Specifically, my proficiency in electron microscopy, surface chemistry, and field-effect transistor devices has facilitated this collaborative effort.During my time in graduate school, my advisor sought an electron microscopist to investigate the dynamics of liposome entry and disassembly. I eagerly took on the task, immersing myself in the intricacies of scanning and transmission electron microscopy. Through this process, I was introduced to the captivating realm of surface chemistry. I soon realized that these disciplines were not confined to the domain of chemical biology alone; they held equal relevance for physicists and engineers. The versatile nature of these skills enabled me to transition seamlessly into my post-doctoral research, working alongside electrical engineers even in the absence of prior knowledge in quantum physics. Remarkably, I was able to fabricate molecularly doped devices for TFET (Tunnel Field-Effect Transistor) applications. The most gratifying aspect of embracing an interdisciplinary approach has been the humbling recognition of the value my skills hold across the diverse landscape of scientific fields.
