Gis AnalystPortland Bureau Of Emergency Management May 2011 - Nov 2011I Served the Portland Bureau of Emergency Management and the PDX Neighborhood Coalitions by creating a comprehensive GIS database mapping the natural and anthropomorphic hazards that could adversely affect the populace of the metropolitan area. In the short time allotted to meet my goals I reduced the complexity of the data and developed citywide maps displaying spatial and temporal phenomenon in a compressive and aesthetically tangible format. All drafted materials were presented at steering committee meetings during the summer and autumn of 2011. Intern/Contributing Researcher And Author:The Portland Bureau Of Emergency Management Apr 2009 - Sep 2009I conducted research for the “2010 City of Portland’s all Hazards Mitigation Plan” redraft. The Primary task for the position was to organize prospective updates for the landslide chapter of the Mitigation Plan. The task required extensive research of multi-bureau codes and regulations at both the local and federal government levels as well as conducting interviews with city, state, and federal employees and other experts. All of these efforts were self directed and effectively assed the City’s readiness in mitigating for landslide hazards. A summary report of all information gathered and recommendations for updates was generated to communicate the strengths and deficiencies in Portland’s Landslide Hazard Mitigation plan. The report conveyed many technical and legal concepts in a professional manner that would also be interesting and tangible to a general audience.
