President
Director Of Engineering
Senior Project Engineer
Engineering Manager
As Engineering Manager, I managed the Engineering Supervisor and a department of engineers, designers, and drafters. I also developed engineering and design tools, interfaced with internal and external customers, and managed the engineering portion of large projects.
Engineering Supervisor
Senior Engineer
In February 2014 I accepted a position as the Senior Engineer with Tarsco. During my time as the Senior Engineer, I managed the engineering and drafting side of API 650 and API 620 tank construction projects, created and oversaw the implementation of design and drafting standards, created and oversaw the implementation of engineering and design procedures, wrote excel and AutoCAD tools to automate design and drafting functions, and wrote a MathCAD based tank engineering calculation package. I also hired and managed 6 engineers, drafters, and designers. Additionally, I performed management functions for the engineering department.During this time period I co-invented and developed an aluminum full contact floating roof.
Research & Development Project Engineer
I was given the opportunity to become a part of a newly organized Research and Development Department in June of 2013. In my new role, I was tasked with leading a team to finish the design, prototyping, and testing of a new geodesic dome concept. I also established a preliminary manufacturing plan, obtained machine and equipment quotes, and performed a preliminary ROI study.
Products Engineering Manager
In January of 2012 I accepted a job as the Products Engineering Manager with HMT. As the Products Engineering Manager, I supervised 20+ engineers and detailers, managed the departmental salary recovery goals, recruited and developed new talent, interfaced with internal and external customers, and developed and implemented new internal processes and controls. Outside of my listed functions, I provided expertise in aluminum geodesic dome design, structural aluminum engineering, product improvement, and new product development.During my tenure as Products Engineering Manager, I achieved several notable successes. I was able to successfully coordinate and initiate the complete rewrite of a proprietary geodesic dome engineering and manufacturing program. During the rewrite I developed the structural member and bolting calculations, was deeply involved in the creation of a geometry optimization routine, and worked with the programmer to design the format, flow, and user interface of the program. I also provided the in-depth knowledge of geodesic dome design required to create a program from “scratch”.I successfully worked with my team to repair a strained relationship with an internal production control and manufacturing team.I worked with a small team to develop and implement a billable time tracking program, an accurate engineering cost estimating system, and a salary recovery tracking program. As a result of the above efforts, the documented recovery for the first 4 months of 2013 exceeded the entire year of 2012. I co-invented and began the development of a geodesic dome concept. During this time I performed all structural engineering analysis and much of the design of the new dome concept. Prior to leaving my role as products engineering manager, I was able to source a “proof of concept” prototype that established the feasibility of the design.
Bid Development Manager
In January of 2011 I was promoted to head the Estimating Department at Conservatek. The department consisted of me and two estimators in two separate offices. We worked in cooperation with the engineering department and sales department to develop estimates for potential projects. My responsibilities included managing the estimating process and coordinating projects with salespeople, company affiliated representatives (both domestically and internationally), and engineers to assure that estimates were completed accurately and on time. In addition to managing personnel in the estimating department and coordinating other departments support, I updated and continued development of the estimating software, reviewed project drawings and specifications, provided technical assistance on sales related tasks, provided engineering support and estimates on complicated projects, and provided guidance to the engineering department on specific cost issues.
Project Design Engineer
As a Design Engineer I was responsible for independently engineering aluminum geodesic domes, aluminum formed plank flat covers, aluminum extruded flat covers, and aluminum architectural projects. As I developed an in-depth understanding of aluminum structures and international codes, the projects I worked on increased in complexity, size, and visibility. I have independently engineered aluminum structures installed on five continents. These structures include domes in excess of 250’, domes with gravity loads in excess of 100 psf, and flat covers with spans in excess of 25’. During the time I spent as a design engineer, I performed tasks outside of my job description whenever needed. I independently developed a preprocessor, automated several design tasks, prompted and oversaw product related manufacturing improvements, and filled in as a designer and detailer.
