I was an Assistant Account Handler for Aston Lark Limited, part of the SME Renewals team in Maidstone. My position involved handling the renewal process for a monthly allocation of clients from start to finish; starting with the data capture stage, through the invitation/acceptance of each renewal and finishing with invoicing, as well as processing some MTAs. The client base was very diverse, ranging from residential associations to rapidly expanding SME companies over a variety of industry sectors, and so the renewal process had to be flexible and adaptive to meet individual requirements of each client. This process involved researching client’s requirements, ensuring that they were adequately insured and recommending additional coverage or policies if there is a relevant exposure. I have experience in handling various types of policy, including Property Owners, Office, Shop, Commercial Combined, Liabilities, Travel, Personal Accident, Professional Indemnity, Directors & Officers and Cyber insurances, with a working knowledge of most other types of policy that may be relevant to SME or corporate clients.

My position as a Business Assistant involved providing various administrative services to a diverse client base by superficially acting as a full-time employee for clients’ businesses. Liaising closely with the company directors, I administered three main accounts which included a courier company, an international packaging company and a forensic psychologist. Specific requirements when dealing with incoming calls included processing bookings and orders, dealing with sales enquiries, coordinating drivers and general troubleshooting. Other administrative duties included the administration of email accounts, diary management, indexing documentation, and finance-related services such as processing direct debits, managing invoices and pursuing payments. The role was very diverse, and I was also trained to cover for the Post and Despatch manager during leave periods. My duties here involved processing incoming/outgoing post, preparing despatches, communicating with external shipping companies and ensuring stock systems were maintained.
