TLDR: I like plants, I’m learning data science, and I started a nursery business. I was born and raised in Bakersfield, California and worked in horticulture in Sacramento, San Francisco, Los Angeles County and Corvallis, Oregon. This is an important part of my story because each of these experiences added a new perspective to my worldview.I graduated with my B.S. in Horticulture from Oregon State University and I am currently building a foundation in technology.I opened a plant store because I am too entrepreneurial to not try. The growth of a company drives me and seeing out new projects brings me fulfillment in my work life. The problem solving nature of entrepreneurship is one aspect that draws me to data science. Analysis of data is one of the most important intersections of business and technology. I find the unique capabilities data provides to be powerful tools we can use to positively impact our future. I find the utilization of these tools to make responsible and ethical decision fascinating. Most importantly, I value people above everything else. The interactions that we make every day, and the way we can positively affect those around us brings value to life. I am eager to see the intersection of tech and seemingly unassociated industries, such as horticulture. While we see hints of this development today, I expect that employing the tools of tech will drastically improve the industry in the future. I am excited to be a part of this evolution.
