Director of Operations for NSW Health Pathology - West. Overseeing strategy, performance and operations for laboratories situated within Western Sydney LHD (Westmead, Blacktown, Auburn, Mt Druitt) and Nepean Blue Mountains LHD (Nepean, Blue Mountains, Lithgow).

The Nepean Laboratory is a category G laboratory, with a detailed scope of testing including Microbiology (Bacteriology, Parasitology, Virology, Mycobacteriology, Serology of Infection), Immunohaematology, Haematology, Immunology, Chemical Pathology, Anatomical Pathology, Cytology and Mortuary Facilities. The laboratory operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and provides technical and clinical supervision to the Lithgow and Blue Mountains laboratories.The Blue Mountains and Lithgow laboratories are category B laboratories. These laboratories operate from 7.30am to 12.30am and 7.30am to 9.30pm respectively Monday to Friday then 8.30am to 5.00pm on weekends and public holidays. I assisted Pathologists and Senior Scientists from the various medical science disciplines with planning and formulating local business objectives and was responsible for the implementation of equipment policies, procedures and methods across the service unit. The role also supported the activities of the supervising scientists within the unit, liaising with customers and interacting with local hospitals and Area Health Services. Blacktown

Responsible for the day to day line management of operational activities of a team of scientific and technical staff providing core pathology services across the Blacktown, Auburn and Mt Druitt campuses.The three laboratories were part of the ICPMR network, which combined to include large core laboratories and smaller stat laboratories. There was 21 scientific and technical staff that worked within the three laboratories which I supervised.

Baulkham Hills

Managed the day to day running of the pathology laboratory. The laboratory was located within The Hills Private Hospital which was a 200 bed facility consisting of ICU, CCU, A&E, maternity, children’s ward, oncology, orthopaedics, day stay and rehabilitation. The laboratory also ran an autologous blood collection clinic.

Port Macquarie

I was asked by management to oversee the operations of the area during a transitional period due to my skills in the area. During this 8-week period I was responsible for operations of both the Port Macquarie and The Hills laboratories.The duties I undertook included all of those listed above plus others involved in managing an acute care pathology laboratory responsible for servicing a large public base hospital.

North Gosford

Responsible for the efficient and effective day to day running of the unit. The laboratory was situated on the grounds of North Gosford Private Hospital which is a 130 bed facility consisting of ICU, maternity, oncology, orthopaedics and rehabilitation.
