    London, United Kingdom
In this position, I managed the Community Desk in the Mayor’s Press Office, leading on Culture, Communities, Education and Health for the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan. In this highly reactive role, I managed a team of press officers that delivered major creative PR campaigns – bringing City Hall’s culture and social integration policy work to life, in order to connect with London’s diverse population and reflect the capital’s unique identity on a world stage.Key Achievements:• Campaigns included #LondonIsOpen – a flagship Mayoral campaign aimed at the one million EU citizens that call London their home, making them feel welcome and valued, despite the result of the EU referendum. This involved working with a creative content agency to develop digital assets which generated both significant engagement among target audiences but also generated national and international media coverage• I also managed a multi-platform international media campaign to celebrate the unveiling of the first statue of a women in Parliament Square, Millicent Fawcett, which marked 100 years of women’s suffrage in the UK• Other key campaigns included the Mayor’s New Year’s Fireworks, launch of LGBT+ Venues Charter, the unveiling of the Fourth Plinth, work to safeguard the capital’s cultural infrastructure, initiatives to combat hate crime in the city, as well as the many events that take place in Trafalgar and Parliament Squares• Managing communications around the appointment of London’s first Night Czar, which involved significant briefing and crisis preparation• The launch of London Borough of Culture – a new capital-wide initiative aimed at engaging diverse audiences with cultural activity, encouraging youth-led participation and connecting with communities which traditionally have lower levels of cultural engagement• Co-Chairing City Hall’s LGBT+ Network
  • English National Opera
    Head Of Media
English National Opera Feb 2015 - Jul 2016
    London, United Kingdom
During my time at ENO, I was responsible for managing PR and digital campaigns for dozens of high-profile opera productions, over 150 performances annually, helping the company to become increasingly relevant to a younger and more diverse audience and stay future-facing. I also managed the company’s reputation during a sustained period of change to funding and leadership. Key Achievements:• Led on a large number of high-profile media campaigns and press nights, aimed at positioning ENO as producing the most talked-about opera productions in the UK. Working across press and digital, I managed campaigns which engaged a wide range of audiences, and successfully placed coverage outside of ‘traditional’ arts pages. Key production campaigns included Michel van der Aa’s Sunken Garden, Terry Gilliam’s production of Benvenuto Cellini, Benedict Andrew’s La bohéme, Tansy Davies’ Between Worlds and Philip Glass’s Satyagraha, Akhnaten and Perfect American• Launched several key corporate initiatives aimed at broadening ENO’s audience, including live cinema broadcasts (ENO Screen), launching a new brand and announcing a new pricing strategy• Managed PR and digital activity to support Opera Undressed, an initiative to bring younger and more diverse audiences to the London Coliseum, offering their first taste of opera. This was a huge success, with a re-booking rate of 36%, significantly outperforming the average for second time attendees• Worked with a digital agency to generate creative social media content and influencer activity aimed towards bringing in new audiences to Simon McBurney’s The Magic Flute• Led on the red-carpet opening of Benvenuto Cellini, targeting celebrity advocates to reach beyond traditional audiences, and build perceptions of the Coliseum as an entertainment venue for all• Worked with a number of senior leaders in the company, including Artistic Directors, Music Directors and CEO to help shape their profile and strengthen corporate narrative
