Promoted from Design Assistant to Design Technician. I assist in training new design employees in the office and work closely with the head engineer on roadway design projects.

I was formally trained how to design roadways and culverts by hand and with Microstation and GeoPAK. I aided professional engineers daily in developing and producing roadway plans set out for bidding. I performed quantity calculations in almost every facet of roadway design. I gained experience designing and updating existing culvert systems. I also assisted with the plan development of a state-wide rumble strip project.

I spent the majority of my time assisting with a pipe leak detection analysis project and on the design and construction management of sewer and water lines. I helped write the technical report for a pipe leak detection analysis for Minot AFB, where we produced a substantial positive potential savings in a 20 year span if the leaking sections were replaced in a timely manner. Part of the technical piece included cost estimates using RS Means to provide the client with the potential cost of replacing every leaking pipe section. I performed water balance calculations for lined ponds as well and worked as a support specialist for title 2 work decentralizing a heat plant at FEWAFB.

I worked on many different projects including, but not limited to water line design, equipment selection, database evaluations, master planning, submittal reviews, AutoCAD drafting, and technical research. I performed a water consumption analysis for the Goleta Water District. I was able to use Macro's in Excel to analyze water consumption values of over 13,000 buildings with statistical methods and develop a long term conservation effort to present to the client. I also produced a quarterly groundwater monitoring report for O'Neill Winery to assist in process water permitting regulations. Lastly, I worked on several small hydraulic design projects from pipe bursting to water lines.
