uMed provides a technology solution that integrates the 3 pillars of the life science in the healthcare space, namely patients, healthcare providers and research organisations. The solution is a cloud based SaaS platform facilitating interaction across the full spectrum of the medical health landscape. The platform is underpinned by unparallelled, highly secure management of personal and medical health information. My role includes architecting and implementing a cloud based solution to facilitate interaction between health providers, research organisations and patients in the life science space as well as ensuiring the appropriate use of technology to provide to support tight integration across the company. The application aims to speed up drug discovery and facilitate long term outcome assessment by improving patient engagement and collaboration between reseach organisations, health providers and patients. The application incorporates unique and innovative highly secure mechanisms that surpass GDPR, HIPAA and other national and international data security requirements.

Medidata is a leading global provider of cloud-based solutions for clinical research in life sciences which transforms clinical development through advanced applications and data analytics. My alliance with Medidata was through the acquisition of Clinical Force, a company which I set up in 2003. I was the key negotiator and architect in the acquisition process. I am proud to say that after to being acquired by Medidata, under my leadership Clinical Force application markedly exceeded its earn out goals over a 3-year period.Key Contributions:I designed and implemented the strategy to integrate Clinical Force application into Medidata platform. Led initiatives in the design, development, quality control, compliance, delivery and change management for the integration.The integrated product proved very successful generating rapid demand which led the exponential staff growth from 15 to 60 staff over a short period.I provided leadership and guidance to produce high performance teams, recognised as the “highest performers” and dubbed as “the most close-knit team” among all teams in the organisation.I managed teams to successfully exceeded earn out goals by at least 25% for all 6 milestones set by the company.

Founder of the company and primary role as CTO (2003 to 2009) was to design and develop the technology architecture and defin software methodologies for the Clinical Force solution. Defined the underlying technology platform on which the SaaS solution was deployed and ensured that the solution utilised open standards, was highly scalable, easily integrated into other systems while minimising maintenance and support.I was appointed as CEO in Oct 2009, accountable for the P&L, business operation and strategic direction of the company. I directed all business aspects in defining and building technology, budget control, product development and target markets.Key Contributions:Fostered business relationship with business partners, vendors, clients and cross-teams of all levels in the company.Led the negotiation and acquisition initiatives of Clinical Force by Medidata in a profitable and “win-win” manner.

My clients were some of the largest banks in the United States of America. I served as technical lead and consultant in their system hardware design, networking framework and database layout, to maximise operational efficiency and productivity.Key Contributions:Adept in Siebel e-business applications. Contributed to the design of large scale client-server applications and defined Siebel system hardware sizings for application and database server.Experienced in various operating systems, clustering software and databases optimisations. Possessed solid expertise in system performance tuning, contributing to improved business operations and processes. Involved in full lifecycle projects, configured and installed hardware/software and optimised database layout.

My role was to design and develop websites in alignment with the business concepts and specifications.Key Contributions:Designed and developed e-commerce sites requiring backend credit card processing and velocity checking, Java chat servers and client applets, configuration and maintenance of email server, firewall and Unix server etc.Oversaw and directed team in completing projects as per specifications and within time frame.

I was part of the team to design telecommunications equipment for Plessey in South Africa. I conceptualisated, designed and tested network cards, PABX’s CPU motherboard and PC card digital telephone interfaces.Key Contributions:Designed and implemented a PC plugin board to provide a PC based console using the latest standards. Designed and implemented a multifunctional motherboard with DSP, CPU, HDLC controller, Wrote hardware drivers in C and assembler. I ensured all products were designed in compliance with ISO 9000 specifications and were brought to full production readiness.I successfully integrated application software into the PABX system as per specifications.
