Worked in project teams to deliver building sciences and restoration services to local and national clients. Key duties include: • Helped maintain corporate national consistency by managing internal project teams as part of a national portfolio project to complete evaluations and construction site review for roof renewal, HVAC upgrade and parking lot expansion/repair projects across Canada.• Completed and managed construction site visits to monitor and review quality control on projects including; building envelope recladding, roof replacement and renewal, parking garage restoration (post-tensioned, pre-tensioned and conventionally reinforced) and pedestrian bridge repairs (conventionally reinforced concrete and timber construction).• Performed building investigations and developed technical evaluation reports.• Conducted and participated in client meetings including construction start-up, progress, and close-out meetings. Developed proposals for new construction projects and investigation opportunities.• Developed project specification, tender and contract documents for small and large scale restoration projects.• Volunteered to participate in opportunities to mentor junior staff, including being a “Buddy” for three new hires as part of WSP’s Buddy Program for new employee onboarding. Participated in the 16 month Queen’s University Internship Program, working in the Brennan Paving & Construction Ltd. division of The Miller Group. Worked alongside senior estimators on submitting tenders and supervised heavy civil and structural projects. Key duties included:• Worked with Engineering consulting firms as well as other construction firms to develop structural designs, construction staging and project schedules on two major MTO design build projects. (Approx. $90 Million)• Supervised field investigations during the design phase of two major MTO design build projects.• Detailed quantity take-offs using Bluebeam and AutoCAD. Organized and participated in quantity reconciliation meetings during the bid phase, consisting of 5-10 participants, with partnering companies for larger design-build projects including: - HWY 407 East Phase 2 Expansion (Approx. $1.2 Billion) - Viva Next H2 West, H2 East (Approx. $500 Million)• Assisted in setting up and preparing cost estimates with the computerized estimating software Bid-2-Win.• Contacted subcontractors through phone-calls, e-mails and meetings to discuss pricing of various components of the projects.• Supervised a rout and seal crew and organizing traffic control for a road maintenance contract.• Organized and running Joint Health and Safety Council meetings. As well as performing subcontractor safety orientation presentations to sub-contractors working on The Miller Group construction sites.
