Pipeline Engineer for Worley Parsons’ dedicated pipelines team based in the north west, helping deliver Front End Engineering and Design (FEED) projects for clients operating oil fields in the Middle East. Responsibilities within this role included but were not limited to; route optimisation including the development of route plans, alignment sheets, and detail drawings, preparation of material take-off’s (MTO’s) and contributing to development of FEED estimates, preparation and checking of pipe wall thickness calculations, and preparation of particular specifications, EPC scope of works and ITT packages.

Discipline Engineer working as part of the @One Alliance delivering wastewater infrastructure projects for Anglian Water.

Responsible for the delivery of water distribution, treatment and effluent transfer projects, administered under the NEC Professional Services Contract, both fixed fee and time based appointments. Responsible for all aspects of project delivery whilst maintaining good client relations throughout. Financial aspects included; managing budgets, raising invoices, forecasting, undertaking earned value assessments, resourcing, and managing changes in work scope with the client.

Site based role, responsible for ensuring that works are carried out in accordance with the works specification, inspecting quality of workmanship, ensuring all appropriate testing and commissioning has been undertaken, reviewing contractors method statements and risk assessments, reporting on progress against programme and liaising with the client & third parties.

Responsible for project delivery in support of the Project Manager, ensuring that project deliverables are completed in-line with the project programme, facilitating individual activities whilst co-ordinating the inputs of multi-disciplined project teams. Design responsibilities within this role include; developing and overseeing the production of engineering drawings, undertaking analytical design calculations, writing technical reports, preparing technical specifications and tender packages, preparation of design programmes, assisting with project proposals, liaison with third parties and stakeholders, co-ordinating and participating in site surveys and investigations, liaising with site operatives and providing general support to the client.

Carried out the role of Pipeline Design Engineer on numerous water transfer and distribution projects for one of AMEC’s key clients within the water industry; Northumbrian Water Ltd (NWL). Experience in all aspects of pipeline engineering from pipe routing and analysis at front end and detail design stages to installation and testing during construction and commission stages. Projects ranged from small scale enabling works, required for water mains refurbishment, to larger scale pipeline installations of up to 4km in length. Pipeline systems ranged from small to large diameter pipelines (100 to 1200 nominal bore) of various materials, both rigid and flexible, above ground and buried with maximum operating pressures of up to 24 bar. Designs often encompassed strategic crossings of roads, railways and rivers. I have designed pipe systems for the distribution of both raw and potable water, and industrial effluents to appropriate design codes, such as BS EN 10224, ASME B31 and ASTM A53. Work on strategic water main projects, and strict 24-hour operating requirements, has meant that I have developed significant experience in the application of under pressure connections and flow stopping techniques. The nature of the works I have been involved in has meant that designs have often encompassed complex pipeline connections between existing and new infrastructure, of which regularly require non-conventional thrust blocks and restraints. Within this role I would oversee the development of all project engineering drawings, including; P&ID’s, multi-disciplined and civil layout and general arrangement drawings, piping alignment sheets and pipeline route plans.
