After commencing my accounting career in business services and audit, I specialised in superannuation in 1991 with BDO Chartered Accountants, one of Australia’s largest accounting firms. I was responsible for a SMSF division of approximately 500 superannuation funds, overseeing both administration and audit functions, and also later established and managed BDO Brisbane’s financial services division as a licenced financial adviser for 3 years. I subsequently went on to a national position at Supercorp Australia, supervising and designing superannuation fund software compliance systems used by accounting professionals Australia wide for SMSF accounting. I joined Hanrick Curran Chartered Accountants in 2003 to head up their burgeoning SMSF division, becoming a Partner in the firm after substantially growing the SMSF business to almost 400 SMSFs.
