I report directly to the VP of Operations. The bulk of our business is build to print for government contracts. We also have an R&D division and offer machining as service to one customer. I manage the machine shop, weld/fab area, warehouse, and an assembly production area. Primary duties are to build and maintain the production schedule to support the planned shipping schedule. I manage the assembly and delivery of one contract item and the production schedule as a service for a customer. The contract item is our one internally designed product (build to performance spec) and that program frequently requires ECRs, fixture design or update, and the writing of work instructions. I also manage the warehouse & shipping department.

• Schedule and release work/purchase orders based on sales forecasts, MRP requirements, lead times, safety stock, and min/max levels.• Conduct weekly manufacturing scheduling meeting with department leads in sales, planning, procurement, and manufacturing to adjust forecasts as well as detect and solve scheduling issues.• Make adjustments to lot sizes and adjust work orders based on machine capacity and work queues.• Procure wide variety of parts from MIL-STD hardware, consumables, castings to custom printed and populated circuit boards.• Use problem-solving skills to get analyze processes and diagnose problems. Duties were split between IT assistance to the executive producer and afternoon drive time on-air producer. Responsibilities included managing local network, troubleshooting software and hardware issues for users, and liaising with law enforcement and utility agencies.

I was in hired to complete one aspect of a massive catalog project for our largest customer NAPA Auto Parts. The project was to photograph nearly 40,000 individual auto parts of varying sizes from multiple angles to be used in our print and web based catalogs. I had to devise and fabricate special tools and jigs to accomplish this task. I began by myself photographing and processing 100-150 individual parts per week.After six months I managed a team of photographers so that we could process 500-1000 parts per week. I was personal responsible for all of the digital processing (Photoshop work), as well as organizing and cataloging the massive quantities of digital files.

I worked at Foto-Hall my last years at University. I started as a sales clerk, slinging cameras and film and worked my way up into processing, photo printing and digital restorations. I also was involved in advertising. At the end of my time I was a key holder and responsible for opening or closing the shop (during the holidays, sometimes both.)

I consulted on a few projects that explored satisfying the freedom of information requirements of local government agencies and municipalities through the application of technology. Though commonplace today this was a cutting edge concept at the time. The group I worked with was funded by a government grant and worked closely with the University of California Irvine Library.
