As a career software engineer, I have great enthusiasm for finding pragmatic solutions to complex problems. I enjoy brainstorming with a team to attack new problems. I also love working with legacy software: diving into the heart of an existing system, discovering how things work, and re-constructing pieces to form an efficient solution. I have acquired a depth of practical knowledge in algorithms and data structures, and I embrace design patterns in order to ensure maintainability and quality.On the other hand, I believe my true edge is my flexibility as a team player and a "software generalist". No matter your position, there will always be tasks that “just need to get done”, even though they may be widely regarded as grunt work. I have built my reputation as the flexible asset to whom managers reach when the schedule is on the line. From scripting, to system integration, to testing, to revamping the requirements and design documentation, I don’t flinch when the critical path includes these kinds of tasks.Furthermore, I think it's very important to be a good time-manager and team-player. While process helps ensure software quality, I believe that personal time-management, effective communication, and flexibility are key to efficiency in development according to a shared team schedule.Finally, with an understanding of the need to stay current in my skillset, I enjoy learning new technologies, tools, and methods, especially as they relate to creating engineering solutions that are more efficient, scalable, robust, and maintainable.
