In charge of a 13-man anti­armor infantry section in a US Marine rifle company. Duties included providing leadership, assigning job tasks, setting command priorities, reviewing and evaluating job duties of subordinate personnel, recommending and implementing corrective actions or disciplinary actions, coaching and training personnel. I coordinated with the 3-line rifle platoons in regards to the proper usage and deployment of the LAWW, SMAW and Dragon weapon systems assigned to my section. I commanded the weapons platoon an as needed basis due to manpower shortages. Served as a battalion rifle/pistol coach. Instructed, coached and mentored US Marines and USN corpsman. While deployed for Operation Desert Storm/Shield, I was awarded the Navy Achievement Award for restructuring the assault section from a 13-man section to a smaller, more combat effective unit of 3 four man teams. I redesigned the TO&E to allow for a M203 to be assigned to each team for marking and masking of targets. I developed a battalion SOP for the usage of the MK­183 SMAW and developed standardized gun drills.
