Geotechnical Specialist
Current• Coordinates subsurface exploration programs and drilling activities including specifications for proposed test borings (soil sampling and rock coring), test pit investigations, infiltration testing, and other types of sampling. • Prepares, develops, and administers subsurface boring, sampling, and testing contract (SBSTC) documents following Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Transportation (PennDOT), and Pennsylvania Turnpike design manuals;• Conducts field reconnaissance of project sites for geologic conditions, site accessibility and existing conditions of pavement, bridges, culverts, and other pertinent features;• Conducts subsurface investigations via soil borings, rock corings, auger probes, excavated test pits, and double-ring infiltration testing;• Responsible for preparation and writing of geotechnical engineering reports (including PGER, RSGER, etc.) for wide range of highway improvements. Reports include related plates, figures, maps, site plans, boring logs, profiles, test pits, infiltration logs, and lab results, along with a review of published geologic literature;• Attend Pre-Bid meetings for various types of projects in the government and private sectors that include highways, bridges, culverts, and public infrastructure improvements.
