Perform daily hazard evaluation of workplace conditions and employee exposure to airborne hazards and physical hazards that are consistent with recognized and appropriate techniques in the field of industrial hygiene. Evaluate the efficiency of engineering controls, work practices, administrative controls and PPE to ensure the protection of employees. Evaluate exposures through air sampling, swipe sampling and odor investigations. Conduct air sampling which includes calibration of equipment, stationary samples, high volume staplex and other industrial hygiene sampling.Responsible for job hazard analysis to include industrial hygiene analysis, ventilation measurements, sampling protocol; interpret data. Calculate exposures, comparing to standards; determine root cause of exposure and corrective action needed.• Hand out personal BZA’s(breathing zone area) or PAM’s (personal air monitoring system)for internal dose to employees and others who may be exposed• Maintain respirator program and other PPE. Fit-test employees in appropriate PPE and provide respirator training to all personal wearing PPE.• Personal and area air sampling for Beryllium, Silica, Uranium and other air contaminants • Surface contamination swipe tests for removable Uranium and Beryllium• Operation of the Tenelec counter for ionizing radiation• External dose rate measurements for ionizing radiation using a Geiger-Muller detector• Present employee training for safety and ionizing radiation, Manage dosimetry program• Conduct safety, beryllium and radiation training for employees.
