Product, UX and Growth Strategy

Digesting and converting customer problems into marketable capabilities for growth and product adoption.

Led the product management organization through its shift from on-premises to cloud and its initial SaaS offering. Sponsored the creation of InRule's first pattern library and early UX in Author Studio.

Led the incubation of product concepts and prototypes as part of InRule Labs and the Office of the CTO. Founded InRule's design organization and practice.

Led multiple design teams creating cloud experiences across API Management, PaaS, marketplaces, and cloud DevOps. Led the design efforts and strategy with PLM and Engineering executives within AIM and Rational respectively. Work included research, story telling, scenarios, conceptual models, wireframes and working prototypes as needed. Team deliverables advanced cloud thinking and lifecycle experiences within IBM.

Applied design thinking methods to create experiences for BPM lifecycle tooling covering runtime and repository management through multiple major releases. Designs included artifact discovery and reuse, improved version management with branch/merge, lifecycle governance and cloud-centric install, configuration and migration experiences.

Led the integration of Decision Management into the Websphere BPM portfolio strategy. The resulting research culminated into cross-portfolio planning, roadmap activities and methodology changes that dramatically improved the visibility of decisions earlier in the BPM lifecycle and enabled coherent cross-selling activities.Explored early opportunities and integration between BRMS and Complex Event Processing focusing on rule constructs, lifecycle, methodology and market problems.

Embraced Microsoft-centric experiences that shaped the Rules for .NET product through critical releases. Nurtured the development of Rule Execution Server for .NET (RES.NET) shaping public APIs, runtime management and the Visual Studio lifecycle.Drove content strategy for developer and business user communities focused on practice, implementation and improvement. The community dramatically improved transparency to issues, informed roadmap decisions with hard data, and generally improved the experience of using the product safely with on-line access to experts and well informed customers.Nurtured the ILOG/Microsoft relationship, point of contact for engineering escalations between both companies and actively communicated the value of both companies working together:

Special moment of time with 40+ developers, product managers and designers that changed the way we think about BPM, rules, forms and lifecycle. We designed a bespoke rules + process engine and never looked back. During this time we implemented an XPDL 1.0 process runtime suitable for high availability and scalable applications. The effort included business user process modeling in Microsoft Visio including dynamic forms presentation and real-time interactions over XMPP. Designed and implemented a rules engine for the .NET platform supporting forward-only decisions and dynamic loading of rulesets for agile lifecycles.Member of the Workflow Management Coalition (WfMC) and primary sponsor for FISERV.Applied Extreme Programming and agile planning to teams composed of local and offshore talent to drive rapid results with higher quality.

Developed SPSS programs for university projects and supported graduate students.
