Specimen Processor
CurrentSort through the specimens from phlebotomists and couriers, ensure they are labeled correctly and that the specimen is in the correct tube or container. Then scan the specimen into the computer, adding the centrifuge time if applicable, and prepare the specimen for transport. After every specimen is inputted into the computer, I organize the specimens by type, tube color, priority, extras, and also by which lab they are headed to and pack them into coolers for travel. At the end of the shift I print and fill out the waybills for the coolers headed to each destination, choose the flight they are to go on, and then drive the coolers to Oakland Airport and make sure the information is correct at the office. Finally I send emails to the proper supervisors informing them of which flight they are on as well as the arrival time of each cooler.
