I hold a Bachelor of Science Honours degree in Biology, complemented by a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Sciences. My Honours degree encompassed coursework and research, with my research project centered on the "Reproductive Ecophysiology of Two Invasive Alien Plants in a Subtropical Biodiversity Hotspot" — specifically, Chromolaena odorata and Tithonia diversifolia. My investigation encompassed their reproductive behaviors, growth patterns, interactions with other species, germination timelines, and eradication methodologies. In my pursuit of an Environmental Sciences degree, I delved into modules ranging from GIS and Remote Sensing to Bio-geography, climatic changes in South Africa, soil erosion, land degradation, marine environment, and community ecology. I was an Intern in the Biodiversity Economy and Stewardship unit at Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife. My responsibilities encompassed the management of Biodiversity Stewardship and Biodiversity Economy SharePoint folders, ensuring their accessibility and user-friendliness for KZN Biodiversity Stewardship Facilitators and NGO Partners. I also had to oversee the updating of presentation templates and their distribution to stakeholders. My role extended to facilitating three Biodiversity Stewardship and Biodiversity Economy sites, honing my skills in QGIS application, map creation, and shape file management. This role has substantially enhanced my scientific writing, reporting abilities, and professionalism. I've chaired meetings, contributed to editing legislation norms and standards, and developed a comprehensive understanding of the legislative landscape governing biodiversity conservation.Previously, I excelled as a Laboratory Technician in both the Microbiology and Biochemistry departments. This experience enriched my laboratory management skills, encompassing waste disposal, equipment handling, inventory maintenance, and personnel management. Simultaneously, I managed undergraduate and honours students while ensuring the optimal condition of the equipment.My leadership journey commenced during high school, where I chaired peer educators collaborating with the Hillcrest Aid Centre. Subsequently, my passion for basketball led me to secure a university scholarship as a first-team player and vice-captain, and I also chaired the UKZN basketball club for three consecutive years. My participation in the Sports Union committee provided further insight into effective leadership and teamwork. At present, my goal is to secure a stable position that facilitates my personal growth while supporting my family.
