As an intern with the Tennessee Golf Association, I was responsible for the successful management and operation of TGA state sponsored championships. I, along with the staff and two interns, travelled the state of Tennessee conducting tournaments for amateurs and professionals. This opportunity allowed me to learn much of what is involved with conducting golf tournaments. Some responsibilities included:- Precise setup of the golf course (plotting hole locations, installing TGA hole signs, and proper USGA regulated marking of the golf course)- Communication with golf staff- Scoreboard layout (calligraphy learned and utilized)- Organization of scorecards, pairings, and additional paperwork needed for each round of golfIn working with the Tennessee Golf Association, I spent over 700 hours in the three month span learning from the TGA staff and gaining experience in the successful operation of golf tournaments. I was very fortunate to work alongside the staff at the Tennessee Golf Association to learn more about golf and event management. The experience and knowledge I gained from this internship will better prepare me for a career in the ever-growing world of sport and athletics.

As an equipment manager, there are many responsibilities to be fulfilled in order to successfully tend to the players' and coaches' needs. During the season we were in charge of conducting practice, packing the truck full of the game-day needs, and set up the locker-room for home and away games. These responsibilities required us to work up to 60 hours in the fall season and 30 in the spring season. More details of the daily routines we underwent include:-Set up practice field with pylons, goal post pads, and specific equipment for each coach-Maintained an organized field during practice and make sure drills are correctly set up and managed-Cleaned locker-room after practice and do laundry for jerseys, pants, and miscellaneous gear for each player-Organized and distributed gear to players and coaches-Cleaned helmets of any blemishes, put stripes on helmets, and T the helmets-Set up home locker-room (full locker includes: helmet, jersey on shoulder pads, gloves, pants, pre-game gear, knee pads, thigh pads, cleats)-Loaded trunks into semi-trailer for away games with the full locker needs and extras-Set up away locker-room and clean up locker-room after road games to get back home to do laundry

With the position as an outside service member, we had many responsibilities in order to maintain the professional atmosphere at Westhaven Golf Club. Some of the responsibilities included:-Arrive on time in the morning to open cart barn-Stock carts fully with tees, towels, and scorecards-Stage the carts in an organized manner near the bag drop-Man the bag drop and manage times-Stock the range with golf balls and pick the range -Tend to all the members' and guests' needs on the course-Wash clubs of members and guests when finished-Pressure wash carts and park in barn to charge-Close and lock up cart barn after the last round finishes
