I am an Associate Professor of biology at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. I teach anatomy and physiology, immunology, biodiversity, and evolutionary biology.I have previously held faculty positions at Hartwick College, St. John Fisher College and Miami University of Ohio. I earned a PhD in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at SUNY-Albany. I have an M.S. in immunology and infectious disease from Albany Medical College. My research focuses on Lyme disease and small mammal ecology Together with my teaching experience, this has provided substantial preparation to teach a wide variety of classroom and field courses related to Anatomy & Physiology, ecology, animal physiology, and animal behavior. I also have a solid grounding in biostatistics, bioethics, microbiology and immunology.I have assistant taught a variety of courses, including general biology lab at SUNY-Albany, and an ecotourism/Spanish immersion course in Honduras, as an undergraduate at Houghton College. I have also engaged in public education outreach through the New York State museum and have presented my research and lead guided small mammal trapping and tracking tours at local nature preserves. I helped start an evolutionary biology journal club with my fellow graduate students, and often organize hikes and with fellow students and colleagues.Specialties: wildlife ecology and behavior, small mammal radio telemetry, automated radio telemetry, disease ecology, microbiology, immunology, animal physiology.
