About Christopher Colyer

An artistically inclined person with a good standard of mental health standing in the middle of a large and packed arena, would like to meet others who are prepared to streak fully clothed across the minefield of fame and fortune. However, any attempt on my part now for an athletic and aesthetic demonstration of commercial flight will only witness a hobble across whatever sacred turf I am asked to perform upon. Blessed as I am with the body of Buddha and a delicate heel, those days of sapling agility when injuries healed fast have long gone. I also firmly hold the belief that the total disrobing of oneself in public is not good for social order. A modicum of self-modesty must be maintained at all times so as not to offend and inflame the mob's baying for blood sensibility.

  • Myrmidon 360
    Director
    Myrmidon 360 May 2014 - Present
We intend to celebrate the opening of our arts centre Myrmidon 360 in 2015/16 with a three day flamenco festival whose format is still very fluid, but in my formal capacity as artistic director I wish to let those who are intrigued by the new and we hope annual event to know more about what to expect. At present I am gathering in costs in order to calculate the extent of corporate sponsorship. I have long adored the films of Carlos Saura, his Carmen being one of my most cherished cinematic moments. Some time ago I was watching his Flamenco, Flamenco and the thought stuck me, apart from being a tourist sitting in a bar or nightclub watching frothy style cafe au lait ole flamenco or as a concert goer sitting in a dark auditorium detached from the staging and evocation of El Duende, I had no intimate place for to go where I could be with others hovering on that edge where your blood is about to be burnt into powdered glass. This festival is for 1,500 persons where aficionados can attend a three day summer event in a private forested valley setting where during the day rehearsals and master classes take place and in the evening outdoor performances as we celebrate flamenco around open fires or upon a stage with full lighting facilities. As a professional theatre person who started in 1963 by performing for nothing, just a meal, the usual contractual amount of alcohol and a share of the gate in order to demonstrate my worth, I also hope this festival can do the same for emerging talent eager to strut their stuff in front of professional artists from all over the world, who I hope will not be jetting or motor-homing in just for their performance, but will allow the gravity and magic of the event to fix them in place as exotic butterflies for the festival's three day entirety.
  • Dark Matters
    Director
Dark Matters Jan 2013 - Present
    Mouli D'Al Roc
Like the Grand Old Duke of York, driving observors up the hill and down again all the while coming to grips with the arcane dark arts of astronomy.
  • Ecce-Signum
    Director
    Ecce-Signum Jan 2010 - Present
Moulin Du Roc, St Julia De Bec, 11500 Aude, France
After living in France for 22 years, I have started offering the French alternative purchase availability to the commercial lock down, not fabricated here mentality they currently face, which explains why everything is much more expensive in France than the rest of Europe, especially the UK. Including transport costs, I am able to offer French clients via ecce-signum.com savings between 35% to 100% on most items, excluding wine and cheese.
  • Hydra France Sarl
    Director
Hydra France Sarl Feb 1992 - Present
South Of France Between Perpignan And Carcassonne
A six gite (apartment) rental business in our own valley. A working farm of sheep, horses, goats and olive trees. A large outdoor swimming pool that is heated in winter and surrounded by enough forest (27 hectares) to bury any secrets. If the cache to be hidden is larger than spade work, we have our two mechanical diggers (7 & 25 tonne) to aide any size of furtive endeavour.
  • Moulin Du Roc Sci
    Director
Moulin Du Roc Sci Jan 1992 - Present
St Julia De Bec, 11500 France
Moulin du Roc SCI is the company behind the project Astra Myrmidon 360 of which I am the Artistic Director.Astra Myrmidon 360 is a pending arts centre project with recording studio in the South of France. After six years of planning, we still wait for the final 'permis construire,' but this is normal for any entrepreneur in France. If a project is 'municipal' it gets immediate official sanction, but if you dare exist outside the prophylactic confines of the fabriqué en France French letter, impregnation then becomes that much harder, another French existentialistic conundrum. We will be open all year and encourage all exponents of the performing arts in addition to holding summer outdoor music concerts and indoor winter performances. We eventually hope the architecturally acoustically designed recording studio and auditorium for 400 persons will encourage local musicians as well as attracting established professionals. The auditorium will also be used as a vernissage and a place to hold live concerts, wedding receptions of all denominations and musical hoe downs. The Astra part of the Astra Myrmidon 360 title refers to a 2.7 metre rotating dome observatory we are constructing to house a 14" Meade Telescope that is Wi-Fi connected to the art centre, so whatever the guest astronomer a la jour observes, will be transmitted around the complex.
  • Plainsong: A Novel
    Plainsong.
    Plainsong: A Novel Jan 2015 - 2024
    In France
Three years ago I submitted five opening chapters of my novel Plainsong and after the normal pile of e-mail rejections, I received from a reputable London publishing house a letter expressing an interest in my book. Having explained it was a work in progress they agreed to wait provided I kept them informed of my progress, which I have. Unfortunately a longish spell in hospital set my deadline back, a recuperative delay I am still making up for, but while I beaver away shoring up that dam which pressure feeds my novel, I would like to find a literary agent and editor in that order.

    Bristol
Film Director. The Trans Americas Rally was an ambitious project to film on 16mm hand held Arriflex's a point based off road motorcycle rally that took six weeks after leaving Mexico City to arrive in Prudnoe Bay, Alaska. Twenty countries had each selected three amateur riders (six of them were supplying camera crews) to represent them in this gruelling challenge, even the Peoples Republic of China had a team ready to go. Unfortunately after eight years of planning and obtaining Mexican,USA and Canadian permission, the sponsor based drama/rally project collapsed as sponsors tightened a 1985 onwards budget
