I work for a range of corporate clients providing writing and editing services. A significant part of the job involves being embedded within a company for many weeks working on an infrastructure tender, liaising with the technical team to understand the points they wish to make and expressing it as clearly as possible. Many of the project teams I have worked for have been successful in winning the tenders.I also work on a range of other corporate documents including annual reports, environmental impact statements, workplace health and safety documents, business plans, award submissions and media releases.

Mahlab is a content marketing agency providing both print and digital content for a range of clients. I wrote news and feature articles for the monthly engineering magazine, create. Content ranged from people profiles to descriptions of new technologies, overviews of projects, and analyses of current issues.I also wrote daily online news, promoted content through social media, monitored analytics for online content, subedited print articles and made corrections in InDesign, sourced and occasionally took photos for publication.

The Weekender was a weekly suburban newspaper covering the Marrickville local government area. I wrote roughly ten news stories per week covering incidents, events and local politics plus an opinion column, sport and entertainment stories, news briefs and assisted with advertorial content. I attended council meetings, local festivals, sporting events and many incidents as they were happening.I was responsible for coming up with story ideas, interviewing people, and taking photos.Since taking on the role, I improved the writing standard (minimal subediting required) and balance of reporting by always seeking alternative views. I worked independently to tight deadlines.

I worked for two federal members of parliament, Robert McClelland (Member for Barton) 2001-2008 and Anthony Albanese (Member for Grayndler) 2008-2013. Robert also held the role of Federal Attorney-General while Anthony was Minister for Infrastructure and Transport as well as Deputy Prime Minister during the times I worked for them.I looked after their local media, including drafting and distributing media releases, handling enquiries from local papers, attending events to take photographs and liaise with other media who turned up, and uploading media releases and photos to their websites.I also wrote and arranged production of newsletters, brochures and advertisements; assisted constituents with problems; wrote correspondence to and liaised with ministers and departments; and undertook research for speeches and parliamentary questions.

Australian Electronics Engineering was a monthly trade magazine for the electronics industry.I was responsible for ensuring the magazine carried information that was topical and relevant to the readers (approx. 9500 industry professionals), and that it came out on time each month. I sourced and subedited technical articles, organised surveys, interviewed leading people in the industry, supervised a journalist and subedited his work, and liaised with artists, production coordinators, advertising reps and publisher on a day-to-day basis.

During my first two years at Reed, I worked primarily as a journalist on Australian Electronics Engineering magazine but also as a subeditor on Australian Mining and as editor for the Lablink catalogue.I wrote news and feature articles, and sub-edited articles of a complex technical nature. Key to the role was making contacts in the industry and gaining an understanding of the relevant issues. I also liaised with production staff and artists, checked magazine proofs, organised surveys and filled in as acting editor for three months.

For 60 years, Choice has been Australia's leading consumer advocacy magazine, providing comparative information on products and services, and lobbying governments and business on behalf of Australian consumers. As an independent body that accepted no advertising, it was critical that all its reports were thorough, verifiable and fair.I started out writing technical test reports and graduated to researching and writing feature articles on a diverse range of topics, from transport and the environment to health and finance. The depth of research and accuracy required was very high.
