From Secondary School to University, I desired to pursue a career in Management Accounting. Identifying cost and efficiency savings while sustaining myself with coffee. It seemed an appropriate career given my BA in Accounting and Financial Management, even successfully undertaking the first steps of becoming a CIMA qualified accountant in my final year of University. But it began to lose its shine. I wished to be part of the solutions, not simply identify them.It wasn't until I joined HMRC as a Tax Advisor that I got to exercise my passion; I volunteered to become a Digital Ambassador upskilling and training colleagues on a range of new services, but also giving me the freedom to find and develop solutions to their technical problems. Years later my work caught the attention of senior developers, securing me a secondment in Development. There I pioneered the Department's use of new technologies such as PowerApps, learning the basics of Web Development and Systems Management.As my expertise evolved, I sought out new career opportunities securing a role in DfE as a Data Engineer. So far, there I learned the basics of PowerBI, DAX, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. This further expanded on my knowledge with custom PowerApps and Power Automate solutions that continue to support our Commercial Colleagues today. Recently securing my promotion to Deputy Systems Manager. I'm adaptive; always looking to expand on my skills.
