Airline Ramp Handling Operation

My role is to manager the ramp operation. We handle 11 airlines and have 450 staff.I am there to ensure that we service our customers to a high standard that they expect and win further contracts. I am responsible for the budget to maintain a profit.Within my first 6 months at ASIG I improved safety, on time performance, baggage delivery performance and saved 500k, the coming 6 months will see us restructure our operation and turn it around to be the most efficient handler at Heathrow's new terminal 2.I have been with ASIG for 12 months (22/10/2015) and I'm still enjoying the challenge. we are still moving our operation in the right direction, we have continued to maintain the high level of service we supplied to our customers in my first 6 months. We have continued to improve the safety on the ramp, improve our performance to a even higher level and the biggest challenge was to continually save money and still supply a first class service. We have moved ASIG from the bottom of the table to be midway and for my next 12 months is to put ASIG at the top and be a profitable part of bbaaviation.

I am now coming up to 3 years of working for ASIG at Heathrow and on February 1st 2017 ASIG joined Menzies Aviation . we are still continually improve on our performance and at the end of 2015 we see ourselves move up the HAL score card for handlers at Heathrow, in 2016 we continue to move towards the top of the score card and maintained our all round performance.. we moved from mid table to achieve our highest position since we moved into terminal 2 and since hitting the high of third we have managed to maintain this position for the rest of 2016, now we have moved into 2017 and the year has started well we are continuing to hold on to our position with in the HAL score card and we are 18 months plus with no aircraft incidents which is achievement to all of our staff that work underwing on the ramp.. I have also continue to maintain the budget and bring the ramp in each month with our targets and make saving this has been one of my biggest challenges but we worked hard as a team to achieve this. Over the last 12 months we will be looking at our equipment and the saving we can make this is with the help of our new telematics tracking system. This could generate a further saving and make our operation at Heathrow profitable. telematics has now been in place and it has shown that we can reduce our fleet to help us make further saving.Overall I am still enjoying the challenges within ASIG at Heathrow and still get excited about coming to work which is the key in being successful.My next biggest challenge is the integration of ASIG and Menzies ramp we will be handling 36 airline at Heathrow with around 900 underwing staff to cross train this will be one of my achievements once we have completed this.

As the ramp manager we are In charge of our customers airlines, we are there to ensure the smooth turn around of each flight.we ensure health and Safety come first to staff and the airlines, we look after the budgets, leave, sickness and conduct investigation and disciplinary.I have also completed a NVQ and IOSH in health and safety.We also attend weekly meeting with the airlines that we handle to discus any issue that they may have had over the previous week and give a plan to ensure that they do not reoccur .
