Dr. Christopher Coyne has served as the Director of Clinical Research for the Department of Emergency Medicine at UC San Diego since 2018. In this role, he oversees clinical trials, supports faculty and trainees with project design, data analysis, and content production, and directs the Clinical Research Fellowship. Dr. Coyne also serves as Hub-Principal Investigator (PI) for the Strategies to Innovate Emergency Care Clinical Trials Network (SIREN) and is Co-Chair of the NCI-supported Comprehensive Oncologic Emergencies Research Network (CONCERN), a leading organization in oncologic emergency care. Dr. Coyne’s research focuses primarily on oncologic emergencies, with specific interests in cancer pain management, immunotherapy-related adverse events, venous thromboembolic disease in cancer, and febrile neutropenia. He collaborates with researchers across the country on these topics, and his findings have been presented at major emergency medicine and oncology conferences, including the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) annual meeting and the National Oncologic Emergencies Conference at MD Anderson Cancer Center.
