My professional passion and interest is “making things work better”. I’ve developed this purpose over time, beginning with military service and subsequently through many positions in the Pharma/Medical Device industry. As a young Naval Officer in a warship, I learned that achieving team success is through practicing the principles of servant leadership. Our division won top scores in all our inspections and our ship won the top Atlantic Fleet award two years in a row. I was fortunate to learn from the best, as my first two Commanding Officers made flag rank, and my first two Chief Petty Officers gained commissions. I also gained operations experience on a staff tour, which highlighted the importance of project management and a sense for how much “firefighting” we do to get work done. Why not design the work better to minimize mistakes and delays? At Baxter Healthcare I learned that solid, fact-based decision-making with appropriate justification and documentation was the best way to achieve success, despite what could sometimes seem like an overwhelming bureaucracy. This ignited my passion for Quality Engineering & Continuous Improvement, and I applied my skills accordingly in supporting sustaining engineering, new product development, and CAPA, to name a few. The application of tools and methods to “make things work better” (e.g. Lean Six Sigma, Baldrige, Process Excellence) is particularly interesting to me. I love taking apart rules and regulations in a way to make them function, or operate, in a business environment. To that end, I co-founded APEX Performance Excellence Group and am endeavoring to build a business focused on helping organizations “work better” with their processes and quality systems. My focus is to help others meet their requirements using facilitation techniques combined with the art and science of process excellence tools and analytics.
Listed skills include Six Sigma, Quality System, Quality Assurance, Fda, and 45 others.
