Born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Christopher Walton has made a significant impact on both local and national politics. As the youngest and first openly gay African American to serve as Chairman of the Democratic Party of Milwaukee County, he broke new ground in Wisconsin's political landscape. Under his leadership, the Milwaukee County Democratic Party became a strategic force, playing a pivotal role in securing victories for President Joe Biden, Governor Tony Evers, and various Democratic candidates. His tenure was marked by Milwaukee's selection as the host city for the 2020 Democratic National Convention, underscoring his influence and strategic prowess.With over 20 years of experience spanning local, state, and federal campaigns, Chris has not only managed others' campaigns but also ran for office himself in 2020. His deep expertise in political strategy and voter mobilization is complemented by his extensive media presence. Chris has appeared on CNN, MSNBC, the Grio, BBC, and ABC, and is a regular commentator on KBLA 1850am. His insights have also been featured in prestigious publications such as The New York Times, Washington Post, and Germany's De Spiegel.Beyond his campaign work, Chris has cultivated a robust background in public policy and foreign affairs. He has collaborated with the diplomatic corps from Japan, Denmark, Australia, and the United Kingdom during his time as Chair. His commitment to policy advocacy continued in roles such as the Policy and Organizing Manager for the Black AIDS Institute and, most recently, as Assistant Director for the Respect My Vote Campaign with the Hip Hop Caucus.A proud Milwaukee native, Chris hails from the Rufus King neighborhood. He is a graduate of Messmer High School and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, History, and African American Studies from Mississippi State University.
