I am a 32-year-old teacher currently employed at Edenglen High School in Johannesburg, South Africa. I specialize in teaching Technology (Grade 8 and 9) and Engineering and Graphics Design (Grade 10 to 12), along with occasional mathematics classes for grades 8 and 9.I have both South African and Portuguese citizenship, and I am fluent in English and have a basic understanding of Afrikaans. I am married with a daughter. I am interested in teaching subjects such as Technologies, Engineering Design, and vocational training subjects like metalwork and woodwork.I hold the position of subject head for Technology, overseeing the proficiency of teachers in my subject. A few of my responsibilities include teacher training, creating lesson plans and content resources, developing practical assessment tasks and exams, implementing interventions, and moderating marked scripts. I am actively involved in integrating robotics and coding into the Technology syllabus. Furthermore, I have initiated a robotics and coding extracurricular club. Apart from my teaching duties, I volunteer in various extracurricular activities at the school, including tennis, cross-country and offer additional lessons for the subjects I teach.Before obtaining my Postgraduate Certificate in Education, I completed a diploma in Industrial Design, which equipped me with a wide range of skills. As a teacher, I strongly believe in creating a safe and inclusive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and expressing themselves while respecting others. On average I teach around 270 students a year and that is why I believe that discipline and consistency are key elements in maintaining a functional classroom. When teaching, I bring a level of energy and enthusiasm, and utilise various teaching media such as PowerPoint presentations, images, videos, virtual 3D models, and practical items. Personally, I get great satisfaction in working with "troubled" students, as I am understanding, patient, and direct. Observing their improvements brings me a sense of fulfilment and satisfaction.Outside of work, I actively engage in outdoor activities such as participating in 5km fun runs and park runs, playing paddle socially, and mountain biking. I am also involved in managing and renovating two rental units. With a wide range of interests, I am always open to acquiring new skills through training. I have a positive mindset, a strong ability to adapt, and quickly grasp new concepts, enabling me to take on responsibilities. Teaching is a passion that runs in my family
