CH2M HILL was selected by Gainesville Regional Utilities (GRU) to partner with Babcock Power Environmental Inc. in a teaming agreement for the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of a new Emissions control System for the Deerhaven Unit 2 Power Plant in Gainesville, Florida. The new emissions control system includes a selective catalytic reduction system, dry flue gas desulfurization and a fabric filter. Total Project cost under contract is $119 million.The new emissions control system meets the new U.S. Environmental Protection Agency goals for SO2, NOx and mercury reductions which were scheduled to begin in 2009. Babcock Power’s Turbosorp® circulating dry scrubber, their world class selective catalytic converter technology and Hamon fabric filter technology will be used to meet the new emissions guidelines.
