Hello! My name is Christopher Dahman. I am a AICP candidate working for Kimley-Horn as a Transportation Planner. Specializing in curbside management & micro-mobility, I work to create strong transportation solutions both for my home city and municipalities across the country. In my free time, I enjoy working out, hiking, watching sports, and cooking.Characterized as a “learner” and “winner of others” by the CliftonStrengths test, I possess a multitude of soft-skills which have enabled me to excel in the planning field over the past 6 years. “Energized by the steady and deliberate journey from ignorance to competence,” the planning process of assessing an issue, understanding it, and working to create solutions never fails to excite me. This task is made easier by the fact that, as a winner of others, I am drawn to strangers with an innate desire to learn their names, ask them questions, and uncover commonalities. Doing so allows me to develop a rapport with relevant stakeholders and to understand their concerns, thereby enabling me and my team to develop optimal solutions.Looking at technical skills, I have more than 15 years of experience in Office, 10 years of experience in the Adobe Creative Suite, 5 years of experience in ArcGIS & Sketchup, and a growing knowledge of R Studio. Possessing a passion for design from a young age, I have always gone the extra-mile with my projects, whether it be creating graphics and documents in Illustrator and InDesign, rendering maps in ArcGIS, modelling urban spaces in SketchUp, or polishing models in Photoshop. This detail-oriented approach allows me to create exceptional final outputs, visually communicating the importance of the project with the given clientele. This strength in technical applications – combined with my education, soft skills, and previous work experience - makes me a strong addition to any planning team.
