During the summer of my Junior year, I interned with Jubilee USA Network, an alliance of more than 75 US organizations, 400 faith communities and 50 Jubilee global partners. Jubilee is building an economy that serves, protects and promotes participation of the most vulnerable by working toward global debt relief, especially in the developing world, by tackling the root causes of debt: irresponsible borrowing and lending policies, corporate tax avoidance, harmful policies of international financial institutions, trade policies that do not benefit the poor, and vulture funds. Jubilee has won critical global financial reforms and more than $130 billion in debt relief for the world's poorest people. As the Development & Executive Associate, my duties were centered on managing and maintaining the office. I was charged with managing financial gifts, maintaining our data collection, preparing grant proposals, and conducting donor outreach. This gave me a deeper insight on non-profit finances, which requires the use of Microsoft Excel and Word along with Jubilee’s database, NationBuilder, where information on supporters, donors, organizations, coalitions, and media outlets was stored. Due to the small size of the office, I was able to work on many different projects, especially with communications on social media and outreach to various congregations and organizations Jubilee collaborates with.
