Manager, Global Internal & External Corporate Communications
CurrentAfter spending 4 and a half years at IHG, where I focused internal and financial communications, I am excited to announce that I have transitioned into a new role within the global communications team. In addition to continuing my work on content and production, I will now be dedicating my efforts to several key aspects of the business, including external sustainable hospitality initiatives.
Executive, Global Internal & External Corporate Communications
As of July 2021, I took on an expanded role to support the Global Corporate Communications team. As part of this, I have assumed additional responsibilities for supporting the IHG PLC website and working with the team on social media and external events.Throughout my time in this role, I have worked through the continued recovery from the pandemic, a new global office, two new brands, an updated luxury platform, and many more exciting projects which continue to grow IHG Hotels and Resorts.This role has allowed me to gain more exposure to the external side of communications. Understanding press releases, press inquiries, crisis management, and our financial results process, including media briefings, has given me a deeper understanding of both sides of the coin.Internally, we’ve continued to achieve great milestones, including virtual and hybrid events/talks, brand launches, leadership sessions, and more while maintaining the drumbeat of the business. I was able to support the 2022 Senior Leaders Meeting as a key point of support for our leaders.

Working in the Global Communications team for a FTSE 40 company is an extremely valuable experience. I’ve learnt how a company with an in-house dedicated communications team functions and their role in bringing to life the purpose of a global company with stakeholders around the world and over 400,000 colleagues.During the pandemic, I served as a key contact for communications, navigating the challenges and uncertainties alongside my colleagues. It was a time where effective communication was paramount, ensuring clarity, reassurance, and support for all stakeholders. Over my 1-year internship at Pladis, I was part of some amazing opportunities and gained great experience.During my first month at the company, I was involved in organizing one of their global events for the UK head office. I had the opportunity to travel to Zaandam to implement processes I had developed in the UK to enable regional streaming of our "town hall" briefing sessions. Additionally, I received training in various systems such as SignageLive, MailChimp, and SeenSpire to further enhance the UK comms layout. Building on my experience with the Adobe package and OBS, I quickly integrated into the team within months.Towards the end of my internship, I had the opportunity to contribute to the UK change comms plans, participate in the launch of the new McVities adverts, and assist the Mental Health and Wellbeing team in designing a new program called "EatWell, ThinkWell, MoveWell," which has now evolved into the McVitie's, Mind partnership.I was also part of the team for the 2018 global leadership conference and collaborated closely with the UK leadership team on various projects, from internal streaming sessions to message distribution. Additionally, I took the lead on a new program with the managing director focusing on small meetings with different colleagues to facilitate Q&A sessions about the UK climate and future business plans.My experience at Pladis provided me with valuable insights into HR processes and communication development. The communication skills I acquired, both internally and externally, have proven invaluable, as has my experience in events coordination and community management. Continuously developing my skills within the Adobe package and various other systems such as OBS and Workplace continues to enhance my day-to-day work.
Public Relations Associate
Worked With Met1 on a temporary basis to help improve their public relations from a Work Experience standpoint. This helped me to develop a lot of skills and also put to test some of my theory work from the university. This included reconstructing their website and social media to develop and portray a stronger and more active business and demonstrate to the public the quality of clients the company works with. This increased their likes on social media and made their web page easier to understand and brought in more traffic leading to a few major clients. In recent times they have taken my plan further and continued to develop their tools within this area. I spent a lot of time developing client relations and putting in place processes to streamline from the first point of contact to first project completion to repeat purchases. Due to this experience, I can say I feel strong enough to work with clients on a project to project basis. The skills I learned in the Adobe package, WordPress and client relations have continued to assist my work to this day. It was a pleasure to support client needs and work towards tight deadlines to ensure they receive high-level services that they expected from MetOne, Demonstrating a good relationship in both B2B and B2C situations.Thank you to MetOne for the opportunity.
Temporary Assistant
Working alongside trained engineers to assist them in the jobs they were doing along with cleaning the area and refilling packaging. This was a temporary summer job that allowed me to work within a high-risk environment. This has given me skills within Manual and food handling and working within the health and safety guidelines of a Blue Chip company.I found that during my time working with Mars I was able to work on my team working skills as I found myself having to constantly challenge myself and the people around me to reach targets and goals set by team leaders. This experience has not only given me skills for a factory but given me skills within team building and leadership.
