• Senior manager responsible for a wide range of litigation matters, including patent, trademark, and copyright litigations, commercial litigations, and risk mitigation programs• Directed the company’s offensive and defensive patent litigation strategies, including 20+ Markman, summary judgment, and trial proceedings, and 30+ licensing agreements• Supervised staff of in-house and outside counsel, paralegal, and administrative personnel• Developed aggressive cost control strategies, resulting in a 24% decrease in annual litigation defense spend, despite a 15% increase in new patent litigation matters, and while maintaining a high success rate• Directed the company’s first patent portfolio evaluation and monetization program, resulting in a significant patent licensing royalty stream• Oversaw the company’s patent harvesting and prosecution programs, and implemented a focused cost control and patent “firepower” ranking process, resulting in significant improvements in patent quality, monetization potential, and efficiency, such as a 30% decrease in annual harvesting and prosecution spend and a 20% increase in patent allowance rate

• Represented clients in all aspects of patent litigation, including 30+ Markman, summary judgment, trial, and appellate proceedings, and several International Trade Commission enforcement actions• Oversaw the preparation, filing, and prosecution of 50+ patent applications in a broad range of biotechnology, chemical, mechanical, and electrical fields, and mentored 10+ junior associates• Counseled clients on an extensive range of patent licensing, landscape, monetization, open source, and standards body issues, best practices, and strategies• Designed and implemented intellectual property management programs for start-up companies
