Currently, I am in a position to use my experience to improve the staff, customer, and citizen experience by modernizing the Zoning Ordinance for the City of Phoenix as Team Leader for Text Amendments and Special Projects. I am working on longer-term items over a 5-year work plan presented to Council, as well as other projects (and smaller amendments) resulting from legislation passed at the State level. I am very much enjoying this new role, where I can help streamline codes and requirements to everyone's benefit. From 2015 through 2022, I supervised the Site Planning Division of the Planning and Development Department of the City of Phoenix, which includes oversight of construction plan review (zoning and development review issues), Master Plan Review, Hillside review, and Landscape review. I also served as the Single-Family Design Advisor and Abandonment Hearing Officer. From 2009 through 2014, I coordinated the Development Impact Fee program for the City of Phoenix, together with supervising the Research team (Census/population/demographics) for the Planning and Development Department.I started working as a planner for the City of Phoenix in 1998 with the former Development Services Department (now part of PDD). My main areas of expertise are subdivisions, Planned Community Districts, and remembering department processes and keeping institutional memory of everyone who's retired in the last 26 years!
