As a Lifeguard at Crowhurst Park's Leisure Center it is my responsibility to maintain the welfare and safety of customers within the Leisure Center. My focus is also on maintaining the flow of day to day tasks such as selling products on sale to customers, including membership, which inherently involves handling money on a regular basis. Most of my shifts include opening the building at the start of the day and also shutting down the building. During this time it is my responsibility to cash up the days monetary takings and make sure there is the appropriate float for the next shift. Throughout my time at Crowhurst Park I have maintained a professional manner and I have also developed an aptitude for a varied work pattern.

In 2012 I decided to volunteer to become a Student Representative for the 3rd year BSc (hons) Crime and Policing course at Canterbury Christ Church University. I felt that this was important as it gives me an opportunity to voice my opinions and also air other students views. This role involves regular student and staff liaison committee meetings where Student Representatives and staff from the Law and Criminal Justice Department discuss how the course can be moved forward for the future. After the meetings the outcomes of the discussions are communicated back to all of the students on courses within the Law and Criminal Justice Studies department. It is therefore my responsibility to communicate the outcomes to the third year students on the BSc Crime and Policing course. This has enabled me to develop and good relationship with both the staff and students at Canterbury Christ Church University.

In 2011 I took on the role as a Peer Assisted Learning Leader (PAL Leader) which involves taking a class of around 30 first year students every week and help to facilitate their learning. I am there as a link between the first year students and University lecturers and my aim is to impart my knowledge and experience of my first year at University to my students. Regular meetings between colleagues, myself and lecturers are involved in this role where we negotiate how the first year students can be helped during their first year with things such as better information on their assessments and equally, how lecturers can be helped by the first year students with things such as better communication from students. During this role I have developed personal confidence with public speaking and also how to come to compromises when it comes to negotiating important subjects.

As a Sales Advisor at B&Q plc it was my responsibility to have a good understanding of the products on sale. It was also my role to allow customers to get the most out of the products on sale and answer any queries they had. My role also meant that I was responsible for large amounts of money at any given time.Throughout my time at B&Q plc I had to maintain a high level of customer service and professionalism.
