I have always been passionate about research, in the joy of discovery, as well as in the intellectual challenge in finding new routes to novel information. With a significant background in benchwork in the biological sciences and in a continuing exposure to new topics of research, I am curious, motivated by collaboration, and passionate about equity and enabling the work of others. I am always interested in learning new things, particularly when it comes to instrumentation and experimental design. I have worked in both neurobiology as well as hematopoietic stem cell research in mouse models in my primary research as an undergraduate (Gabriel Lab) and a lab technician (Signer Lab). My time at the La Jolla Institute for immunology working as a flow cytometry specialist has given me the opportunity to work with a wide range of researchers and their topics of interest, from immunology, to basic cell biology, to cancer biology. I am passionate about the work I have done as a flow specialist, both in the applications high-throughput, high-dimension capabilities, as well as cell sorting. FACS (cell sorting) has opened me up to a wide variety of downstream applications and associated best practices. Working in a user facing position that can be fast pace and require on-the-go changes when experiments need triage, this role has also bolstered troubleshooting skills. Communicating science effectively and acting in the capacity of a teacher, to a wide range of experienced and non-experienced researchers, collaborators, or interested donors, I feel I have developed a strong set of interpersonal skills. I am currently looking for new opportunities and am excited to grow in the coming year!
