My background includes training as a journalist with Thomson Newspapers in the three disciplines of daily, evening and weekend news after which I free-lanced for numerous publications and edited two magazines, one for a period of 10 years.Working as director of public relations for an advertising agency I worked on a wide range of companies such as Scottish & Newcastle Breweries and Procter & Gamble. Subsequently I joined Bellway as it expanded across the UK. I also covered City relations and its French projects.As director of marketing for Bellway's commercial property interests, North British Properties, I worked on projects from Winchester to Aberdeen. Thereafter I established Dobson Marketing which has specialised in the service sector. We won the Best use of Marketing award for work on Capital & Counties' Peterborough Business Park in 1983. I was also a member of the team that brought Hitachi Rail Europe to Newton Aycliffe, Co. Durham.My personal interests include photography, geography, European history and walking at altitude.
