Petroleum And Reservoir Engineering GraduateBp Sep 2020 - PresentLondon, England, United KingdomResponsible for providing petroleum engineering support through use of tools, methodologies and technologies to develop, document and integrate field depletion plans under supervision, and performing ad hoc tasks to support the team through the implementation of well interventions. -
Stem Mentor (Promoted To Lead Mentor On Various Projects)University Of Strathclyde Jul 2012 - Jun 2019Glasgow, Scotland, United KingdomThe purpose of this programme was to increase awareness of high school students from low progression schools to higher education by organising a full day group workshop, based within various university and college campuses. From 2012-2015, I also mentored during the 5 day Scottish space school residential, where in 2015 I held a senior mentoring position responsible of managing 10 mentors and 100 students. I was also promoted to lead mentor from 2015-2019 on a STEM outreach summer programme to provide opportunity for high school students to experience university for a week alongside departmental tours, lectures and project work. This position allowed communication, confidence, decision making, time and team management skills to be developed as it was important to communicate clearly to large groups of students during workshop tasks and plan ahead to stay on schedule. In addition management skills were required to ensure that the mentors which I was responsible for were able to achieve the tasks which were required on time and effectively as well as providing support whenever required. -
Pressure Relief Valve (Prv) Cfd Modelling EngineerHenry Group Industries Jan 2019 - Apr 2019Glasgow, Scotland, United KingdomAwarded with EPSRC scholarship as part of PhD to work with pressure relief valve (PRV) manufacturer to generate CFD models of various PRV’s to predict both steady state/transient performance and provide flow visualisation to improve future designs for design team. In conjunction, an experimental high pressure facility was developed at Strathclyde University using practical experience gained at Henry to validate accuracy of computational models. Support was also provided with manufacturing and assembling the PRV’s by working with various stages of the assembly line in order to gain an appreciation of the various manufacturing processes involved. I also attended project management meetings to oversee and add input with various projects and client contracts as well as shadowing lead PRV engineer during certification testing.Various skills and knowledge were required in this role such as;- Opportunity to apply the theoretical knowledge and practical CFD/experimental techniques developed during PhD on active projects to identify any design issues and propose improvements in an industrial context. This allowed research and analysis skills to be developed as well as independent project management in order to communicate with the relevant engineers and focus research in the correct areas. In addition, it was important that my project deliverables were delivered on time and to a high standard.- Opportunity to communicate and provide assistance to other design engineers in various projects in an engineering office environment. Furthermore, communication was required with various aspects of the factory such as purchasing, sales, quality control, shop floor and various machine technicians as well as the final production line and testing. This required strong communication skills to understand the requirements and limitations of communication for each aspect of the factory. -
Mechanical EngineerSpx Flow, Inc. Jun 2014 - Sep 2014Glasgow, Scotland, United KingdomSummer intern within oil and gas engineering team specialising in artificial lift Hydraulic Submersible Pump (HSP) design. Required to perform high-level pump performance analysis using “PROSPER” software to model reservoir conditions. It was required to communicate with clients to receive the necessary information. Such analysis allowed a pump configuration to be designed in terms of pump and turbine stages which would meet the requirements of the client by adhering to well system and safety constraints. It was required to send a report to the client which included expected pump performance over reservoir lifespan, required piping layout/sizing, cost and lead-time data. Furthermore, assistance was provided with business development team in USA.Knowledge was gained in general design of hydraulic submersible pumps and artificial lift devices such as ESP’s and PCP’s to understand position of HSP’s within market. It was required to understand various reservoir conditions such as reservoir pressure and well productivity and calculating the API of oils for suitability of HSP. In addition it was important to understand inflow performance relationships from each clients enquiry which was then modelled using PROSPER where the most suitable stages of both turbine and pump was selected. To be able to achieve this, extensive training was required and independent learning of software, terminology and scientific concepts which highlights my ability to learn on the job and apply the academic skills to industry. Strong communication skills and business management techniques were required to understand client requirements and offer the most cost effective and efficient design which met the safety constraints of the well infrastructure.
