Chris has been a community-focused educator centering racial equity for 30 years in Seattle’s south-end.Chris has taught high school history and humanities at Rainier Beach and Cleveland High Schools, served as principal at South Shore PreK-8 and has worked as a mentor teacher supporting new to profession teachers in Seattle Public Schools. He led Seattle Public Schools’ Consulting Teacher Program for 7 years, managing a team of 22 teacher mentor/coaches who center racial equity in all their work to support the effective growth of new teacher practice. He currently works as a member of the Mentor Faculty and Induction Coach for the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction’s Beginning Educator Support Team, training new-teacher mentors across the state and supporting districts to build powerful and effective new-teacher induction programs. Chris is a skilled and experienced classroom teacher, building leader, coach and mentor. Across all these roles, Chris centers the power of relationships, community and the deep insight and rich experience that our historically marginalized kids, families and communities bring to our learning communities.He is committed to coaching as a means to transform individual practice and systems, fostering moments, momentum and movements toward educational justice.
